Bangkok really does have more and more themed venues lately. A few days ago, a shopping mall even had a dog-themed exhibition: ICONSIAM put up a huge dachshund that stood out from far away, and almost everyone passing stopped for a few photos. I wasn't particularly interested in exhibitions like that, but the more you see, the more you realize how good Bangkok businesses are at giving their venues something memorable. Opening a restaurant used to mean concentrating on the food; opening a cafe meant focusing on the beans. Now, doing the basics well won't necessarily make people remember you. You also need them to think, 'Oh, there's something different about this place,' the first time they see it. That's why there are themed cafes, anime collaboration restaurants and pet shops, and even clothing stores whose entire interior revolves around a theme. Think of the condom-themed cafe I mentioned before. Moving gradually into distinctive niches may offer more room to grow in the future.

The place I found today follows a similar approach, but its theme is rather unusual: Stocking. When I first saw the name, stockings didn't even come to mind. It sounded more like a Japanese clothing brand. Many Bangkok venues lean toward a Japanese image these days: combine a few English words or transliterated Japanese ones, and the sense of style immediately goes up. Once inside, I realized they hadn't simply put stockings on display as a decorative element. The interiors, displays, outfits and overall atmosphere were all designed around the same theme. It doesn't feel jarring when you enter; it's more like stepping into a Japanese-style collector's shop with a distinctive personality. There are plenty of figurines and small ornaments, and the overall look is dark, with lighting that isn't harsh. With the more substantial decorative touches, your first thought isn't, 'This is a stocking massage venue,' but, 'Does the owner really like collecting things?' Only as you look more closely do you realize all those details revolve around a single theme.

Stocking Massage is a Japanese-style massage venue on Sukhumvit Soi 37, near BTS Phrom Phong in central Bangkok. What sets it apart from other Japanese-style massage places is its focus on stockings, so anyone who likes black, white or red stockings may want to check it out. The location is convenient: Sukhumvit Soi 37 in central Bangkok. Search 'stocking massage' in Google Maps to find it. Grab or Bolt is generally the easiest way to get there. You can also drive, as there's parking in front.

The venue has two types of rooms: those without a Nuru inflatable mattress, assigned to guests choosing stocking massage, and those with a Nuru inflatable mattress, assigned to guests choosing Nuru massage. Whichever type you choose, each room has a different interior design.

Here are photos of some of the rooms.

Another feature I found interesting was the water bed. Its main difference from an ordinary massage bed isn't simply softness: water flows through it, and you can feel that gentle movement. Several shower heads can rinse you from top to bottom as well. Returning to the venue itself, it currently offers a promotion for new customers. If your first visit meets the offer's conditions, you can receive a 900-baht discount once the spending threshold is met. That's a fairly substantial offer, so if this particular theme interests you, now seems a reasonable time to try it.

Opening Hours

From 11 in the morning until 2 the following morning.

As for whether it's right for you, I'll say what I always do: when it comes to checking out a venue, hearing someone describe it a hundred times isn't as useful as going once yourself.
