BKK Vice: A Vice City-Themed Escape in Bangkok
After staying in Bangkok for a while, it’s easy to get bored. Thai massages and oil spas are everywhere, and after a while they all start to feel the same. A couple of days ago, while wandering around Sukhumvit Soi 39, I accidentally walked into a place called BKK Vice. The moment I stepped inside, I almost felt like I had been transported back to the game I used to stay up all night playing in middle school — Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
First Impression: Am I Still Playing the Game?
If you’ve played Vice City, the mental image is instant: pink and purple neon lights, Miami palm trees, and that unmistakable 1980s synthwave soundtrack.
My first thought when I walked in was, “The owner has to be a hardcore fan.” The owner is French, and he’s completely obsessed with the game. A lot of places just hang a theme sign and call it a day. This guy actually put real money and effort into it.
The lighting is carefully tuned — a soft, slightly pink-purple glow that looks almost identical to the visual feel of cruising down the coastal roads in the game. The interior details are even more impressive: the blinds, the clean lines of the furniture, even the floor tile colors match scenes from the game. The immersion is hard to put into words. Sitting on the sofa in the lounge area, I half-expected Tommy Vercetti in a Hawaiian shirt to walk through the door at any moment.

Detail Obsession: Those Posters Are Next Level
Most massage places decorate their walls with random artistic photos or landscape prints downloaded from the internet. At BKK Vice, the walls feature posters of their own therapists. You might think they’re just regular promotional photos — they’re not. The owner hired a photographer and designers to shoot every therapist in the classic GTA vector illustration style.
If you remember the loading screens from the GTA series, you’ll recognize that bold, colorful, semi-comic-book look. That’s exactly the style they used.
Real Experience: What You See Is What You Get
A lot of massage places these days rely heavily on heavily edited photos for selection. You pick someone based on the picture, and when they walk out the difference can be night and day.
The French owner clearly doesn’t play that game. Westerners tend to be more direct, and he goes for a “what you see is what you get” approach. Here you can actually see the therapists in person. You like someone or you don’t — it’s straightforward. There are usually around 30 therapists available each day, so the range is wide. Even though the overall theme leans into that Miami Vice City vibe, the therapists themselves cover a broad spectrum of looks. You’ll find both the fuller, more athletic styles that a lot of Western clients prefer, and the softer, more delicate looks that fit Asian preferences. Whatever your type, there’s a good chance you’ll find someone who catches your eye.
