Where to Find Western Freelancer in Thailand?

After sharing a lot of content, many followers add me and start asking all kinds of questions. Some of them immediately jump in with:

“I’m coming to Thailand and want to find French, Russian, or Western women — where can I find them?”

My usual reply is just two words: “None.”

Then some refuse to believe it and push back: “But I saw posts on such-and-such platform saying there are plenty of Western women in Thailand. How can you say there are none?”

Let me lay out the basic reality first.

Legal Reality

From a legal standpoint, foreigners are strictly prohibited from engaging in any related grey-area work in Thailand. Once caught, it’s not just a police matter — immigration gets involved as well. The consequences can include fines, deportation, and even a lifetime ban from re-entering the country.

Practical Reality

Now think about it: why would a young Western woman travel all the way to Thailand to do something that is high-risk and relatively low-reward? Only under extreme circumstances (for example, wartime situations like the Russia-Ukraine conflict) do people end up in that position. Thailand’s cost of living is not high enough to make this an attractive option for most Western women under normal conditions.

So Are There Any Western Women at All?

Yes, but it’s nothing like what many people imagine.

The foreign women you do see in Thailand are mainly from Russia, Ukraine, and some Eastern European or Southern European countries. The vast majority are overstaying on tourist visas and doing under-the-table work. They face constant risk of being raided, fined, deported, or permanently banned. If you follow Thai news regularly, these kinds of enforcement actions are not rare.

Around the Nana Plaza area you can also find some African women operating quietly. These environments sit outside local cultural protections, and the disease risk rises noticeably.

Below are a few places where you are relatively more likely to encounter them. Assess the risks yourself. Some of these venues no longer exist — I’m listing them mainly to show that this never developed into any real scale.

Bangkok

1. Royal Garden Home (Sukhumvit Soi 3)
   On the surface it looked like a hotel, but the actual operation was different. Staff would ask what you wanted, then take you upstairs to choose. Prices were around 3,000 baht. Quality was average — mostly short-time, in-and-out customers. The place was raided and shut down around 2020. This model no longer exists in the same form.

2. Mixx Nightclub (basement of InterContinental)
   Has branches in both Bangkok and Pattaya. Men’s entrance fee is 400 baht. VIP areas require bottle service starting from 2,900 baht. There is an outer area (mostly Thai girls, occasionally some very good-looking ones) and an inner area with Western women. Prices go up accordingly. You can approach someone you like and ask. They often start with high numbers — long-time quotes of 20,000–30,000 baht are not unusual. Don’t be shocked; the price is negotiable. Typical short-time is 4,000–5,000 baht, long-time around 8,000–10,000 baht. Because it’s a Western-oriented venue, things only start getting lively after midnight.

3. Nana area, Soi 3 street
   Plenty of street activity, but very few actual Western European women. African women are more common. Some people specifically like that, of course — different tastes. Occasionally you’ll see someone quite attractive.

4. Levels Club
   Located on the 6th floor of Aloft Hotel, Sukhumvit Soi 11. Opened in 2012 and still running. It’s an international nightclub that attracts a lot of foreign customers. Occasional independent foreign freelancers appear. Quotes usually start from 6,000 baht. Entrance fee 400 baht, bottle service from 3,200 baht.

   

Pattaya

1. Russian bars on Walking Street
   These are not traditional go-go bars. They function more like Russian performance venues. European promoters may invite you upstairs under the pretext of watching a show. In reality it’s mostly basic dance performances, extremely expensive drinks, and low interaction. Girls inside often keep asking for tips and offer private dances that can cost several thousand baht each — with no touching allowed. It’s easy to get fleeced. Many people now actively avoid these places. The girls generally cannot leave with you to a hotel (private arrangements afterward are a different matter).

2. Beach Road street activity
   There used to be some older, lower-priced options for a short period. These were cleaned up long ago and have basically disappeared.

3. Mixx Nightclub Pattaya
   Located in the middle section of Walking Street (the one at the end has permanently closed). Mix of Thai and foreign girls. Overall quality is a step below Bangkok, prices a bit cheaper (usually from 6,000 baht). Atmosphere is average — slightly better than Bangkok’s version. Occasional performances. If you want to try your luck, arrive after midnight.

4. 808 / Insomnia Nightclub
   Not many Western women, just the occasional few. You have to judge for yourself whether they are tourists or working. Most are from South America or Eastern Europe and appear irregularly as freelancers. Atmosphere is so-so. Walking Street these days feels dominated by Indian visitors. You can sit on the ground floor, order a beer, and just observe.

5. Thai bathhouses
   Years ago a few places (for example Crystal Crystal) briefly had foreign faces. Those are completely gone now. Don’t bother looking.

Phuket & Samui

Walking Street in Phuket and the Green Mango area on Chaweng Beach in Samui have Russian-style clubs similar to those in Pattaya. The pattern is largely the same. Even private arrangements usually start from 10,000 baht and up. If money is no object, that’s a different discussion.

Bottom Line

Coming to Thailand specifically to look for Western women is not a good idea. Thai women are the main reason most people come here. Quality foreign talent naturally flows to higher-value locations — Amsterdam in Europe, Las Vegas in the US. Expecting large numbers of European women to relocate to Thailand for this kind of work doesn’t make much sense. They need rest too.
